Mandy’s GH Final Message…

Mandy’s Greenhouse is presently progressing to a FULL retirement” mode.

Our original collection of 1600 wonderful heirloom varieties had been reduced slowly in the last 6 years to ones we wished only for our personal collection. That still looked like about 3-400 varieties as so many hold a very special place in my heart, for all kinds of reasons. And still you all supported me and put up with my instructions as to how to navigate the inventory. Because I take my responsibility for the future of Heritage Vegetable legacy very seriously…it made these steps very difficult.

I hold my heart now as I must make the FINAL decision to close down the business in the year 2025! As I do the math…I have been in business since 1988! 2025 will be 37 years! This will be heart breaking for me on so many levels. I have made a ton of friends over the years, from all walks of life and from all around the world. My collection came from, Africa, India, England, Germany, Australia, France, US, Italy, Croatia, Poland, Chez Republic, Sweden, Holland and all across Canada. The wonderful “like-minded” people were generous and kind to share their special seed, for which I will be forever grateful and humbled. Also lets not forget how many varieties I was able to return (in kind). Sometimes under different alias, but get through we did!

Furthermore, while I was selling plant-lets, the customers who came down to my Green House (…many becoming regulars) were my greatest gift of all! I cannot tell you the massive fun we had. Time stood still on those days. And, let me never forget our conversations, our shared stories and the events that took place. The best one was our very own Tomato Fest!

Ok so WHAT am I up to? I’m finally going to slow down! I need to. Like my Oma would say “Amanda, I’m no longer 20! I’m 4x’s 20!” And…I’m not going to feel guilty about it! Beside…my “carcass” is complaining. Some days loudly! I have (with hubby’s help…) had BOTH my Greenhouses restored. I better put them to good use! And, my poor Alpine Plants that were placed on the back burner, 37 years ago, will finally have their day! Already many raised beds, specially filled for them, are ready and waiting for me to find the best “babies” for them! And…I have already found many new friends, whose alpine plants are a joy to admire! And…acquire!

Yes, I still have a great amount of seed, still with great germination and will continue to keep harvesting. Can’t help myself! Bloody habit..eh?! . And of course way too much for my own use!

This year will be your lucky year! As some already know, extra packets will tag along with ALL orders. Be warned…the larger the order, the great the damage I will do! I promise! I have lots of GREAT selections. Get your orders in soon, before its too late!!!

From our garden to yours…HAPPY GROWING!
