Those are huge apples! The ones I scored from three local trees are real apples, not apple crabs, and half that size. Of course, the spring and summer was very dry, so perhaps in other years they would be larger. I love that Japanese Red apple.

Over the years, if “pruning” of smaller fruits were done early enough, this can allow the rest to grow larger. Some of these trees “self prune” and some need some help. Over time one can easily see which need what. That and consistent moisture, as well as a strong nutrition program usually does it.
