Extras Extras….read all about it!

This is my annual letter to all my fine gardening friends, who await this time of year for any or all extras  I might offer!

Gosh! What a challenging spring! On one hand we can be grateful that our province did not receive the terrible flooding our neighbours to the south received. Am also grateful that the huge snow accumulations so many around us received….we also were missed. However it appears too, so many have experienced far warmer weather than us…like into the mid 15’s or higher. Not so here! Nary a day goes by with temps less than 10C! Chilled to the bone we are. Our trees remain sleeping and the few plants that have poked out like green onions, ramps 9wild garlic), a strange form of ? chick weed? Dutchman’s breeches and winter lettuce. Even the dandelion is keeping a low profile…  Maybe this year temps will slowly go up and stay there, resulting in no damage to fruit tree blooms this year… We’ll see…

Because of the unseasonably cold weather, I could not set out my starter plants for some sunshine conditioning… as I usually do around this time of year. Also tried hard to keep temps cool as possible, but even that is a challenge as some like it cool and other like Basils who love warm and drish, will experience damp-off. Grrrr….there is no pleasing everyone! Hopefully after Monday, it will give me a break!

Sooo my Gardening Friends, with good weather blessings, I’m planning my Extra Starter Plant Blowout sale from May 18th (Saturday) till May 22nd (Wednesday)…(9-6) inclusive….or could end sooner if plants sell out before. Offering Heritage Tomatoes, Peppers, Chard, Lettuce, Kale, Basils, Dill,  Parsnips, Turnips, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Kolhrabi, etc… I will also have a small bin of seed packets if interested… I might also have a few extra Asparagus starter plants to offer

So lets all pray for great weather and getting excited to once again visit with all my friends.

Happy Gardening Everyone!

Mandy
